5 best budget gaming laptops under 1000 dollars

You are never too old for some video game fun, and with a new laptop purchase you can always have your fun with you. The Alienware M18x and the Asus G75SX are arguably the best gaming laptops in the market today but not all of us can foot the bill to carry one home.

However that does not mean we are locked out of the gaming world just yet. Here is a list of best gaming laptops under 500 and 1000 dollar mark that will have you enjoying even the latest PC game titles remarkably.

Lenovo Ideapad Y50

Lenovo Ideapad Y50 This best budget gaming laptop offers specs that rival even the most high end devices. It features a 15.6 inch display and runs on an Intel core i5 2.8 GHz chipset that guarantees smooth game play capabilities. Its Nvidia GeForce GTX 860m GPU and the 2GB DDR5 VRAM make it competent of handling most graphic intensive titles in the market.

The brightness levels on its 1920*1080p resolution screen are enough to provide comfortable visibility although not entirely satisfactorily. It is worth mentioning that the Lenovo’s screen can be easily replaced with a better EPS display.

My verdict: The display did not quite cut it for me, but the possibility of replacement was comforting. The sound system on board was however impressive and the backlit keyboard was an added plus. Otherwise it is a light weight and powerful system that performs admirably.

Asus Vivobook V551LB DB71T

Wrapped in an attractive ultra slim profile, the Asus Vivobook is packed with a mid level Nvidia 740m graphics card paired with a powerful Core i7 1.8 GHz processor. As a casual gaming laptop, this model from Asus is a steal.

However compared to the other laptops on this list it weighs in a tad heavier and uncomfortable to carry around. It also lacks a backlit keyboard for those of you who love playing in the dark.

My verdict: At its price, this Asus is a bargain. Its powerful Intel processor bundled with the Nvidia graphics card with 8GB SO-DIMM RAM will allow you some smooth casual game play for long hours thanks to its excellent battery life. Its lack of SSD support and a non-dark friendly keyboard might not cut it though for those of you like me.

Acer Aspire V7-482PG-7845

Despite measuring in at a mere 14 inch length, this Acer Aspire’s touch screen display boasts full HD support. It houses a robust Nvidia GT 750m coupled with a powerful core i7 Intel processor unit that make for smooth frame rate capabilities during game play.

This unit comes with an 8BG DDR3L SDRAM that should be efficient for most titles and a 500GB storage drive.

My verdict: Compared to other units on this list, the Acer Aspire puts up a really good fight in winning the game play prize. If you are comfortable with its miniature screen size and meager storage capacity, then this might just be the best budget gaming laptop for you.

MSI GP60 Leopard-010

You can expect to comfortably play almost all games in medium or high detail on this unit. This MSI Leopard carries a Core i5 3GHz processor that can deliver performance speeds that can rival many high end devices.

A GeForce 840m graphics card also promises to carry out graphical operations 30% faster than its older counterparts but might not be fully capable of handling more demanding titles without lowering their detail. Its 15 inch full HD display and 8GB DDR3L SDRAM are pretty standard but its 750GB storage might prove wanting.

MSI GP60 Leopard-010

My verdict: Some of its features might be a little lower than the other contenders on this list but its price makes it a best budget gaming laptop worthy of checking out.

Lenovo Y40

This sleek 14 inch gaming unit is not only light and easy to carry, but also promises to deliver on your money. It hides a capable Core i7 1.8 GHz CPU and an 8GB RAM under its sleek exterior.

These coupled with its powerful AMD Radeon R9 M275 GPU make light work of even the most demanding game titles. It also has an extra Intel HD Graphics GPU for less intensive games or work. The Lenovo Y40 sports a hybrid 1TB storage unit that comes with an extra 8GB SSD for quicker boot and load times.

My verdict: With its impressive specs, the Lenovo Y40 could easily be the best budget gaming laptop for the pocket mindful gamer. We find it a pity though that the impressive full HD LED and Antiglare Backlit display is only 14 inches.
